Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
The module will be an exploration of the key fields of both Convict Criminology and Lived Experience Criminology and their implications. It will also allow students to explore the thematic, empirical and conceptual contributions, encouraging them to critically evaluate the recent developments of people with ‘lived experience’ of criminality and incarceration to criminological perspectives. The module will scrutinise and conclude whether these contributions are likely to enhance or inhibit knowledge production within the field of criminology.

Further details relating to assessment
Students are required to select their own method of assessment to answer the research question: 30-mins Paired Podcast; 15 mins Individual Presentation or a 2,000 word literature review which applies the knowledge and understanding that they have gained on the module to the issue of involving lived experience of crime and punishment into criminological literature.
Students must explore these themes in relation to a case study. Students are particularly encouraged to focus on the contribution of individuals with lived experience as a form knowledge.
In addition, there will be a formative assessment mid-way through the module which will ask students to submit a request for their assessment choice and their plan to answer the module question for feedback.
