Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
The module aims to develop an in-depth understanding of policing issues in the 21st Century such as cyber crime and terrorism. The role of intelligence agencies will be explored and their effectiveness in combatting security issues, with particular reference to Britain. The module fulfils this through a critical examination of key aspects in the field of policing and security studies. It aims to provide a critical awareness of the role of the police and other agencies such as the National Crime Agency and the British Security Service (MI5).

Further Information Relating to Assessment
Students will have the opportunity to submit aplan as a formative assessment to ensure they are approaching the case study appropriately. Students should identify the key theories and concepts they will be examining in their case study.
Case Study – Students will be expected to focus on a topic of their choosing in relation to the teaching content of the module and critically examine matters of policing and security in relation to it. Students will demonstrate a critical engagement with the appropriate academic material by examining the historical, cultural and political debates surrounding their chosen case.
Assessment tasks are designed to measure the extent to which you have satisfied the Level Learning Outcomes for your programme. Some modules, for example where there are professional body (PSRB) requirements, will also test for module-specific skills and knowledge.
