SHN6093 - Inclusive Physical Education and School Sport

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

The aim of this module is to provide you with an opportunity to understand what the needs of different types of diverse learners are and in turn become more rounded and inclusive practitioners. Drawing on theoretical models and constructs along with an awareness of current policy and practice, the module will explore what is ‘inclusion’ and consider topics such as unconscious bias (including a focus on race), special educational needs and working with gifted and talented individuals and healthy approaches to PE and sport. The relationship between the coach / teacher and athlete will also be explored.

There will be core content delivered to support all students supported by practical activities and tutorial ‘wrap-around’ support. The module will culminate in an assessment event.
