Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
Within this module you will develop knowledge and understanding of information processing and how this impacts on the teaching process. Modes of presenting practices will be evaluated in relation to the skill being taught and the learner’s skill level. The relationship between sensory input, perception, memory and decision making will be evaluated in relation to performance and tactical understanding.
In relation to the teaching process, you will develop your understanding of Models-Based practice within Physical Education and Sport. Application of the different curriculum models (e.g. Teaching Games for Understanding, Sport Education, Cooperative Learning – to include international examples) will be enhanced through practical application in relation to the planning and delivery of Games in the curriculum.
Additionally, you will acquire skills to qualitatively analyse and present key themes occurring in the area of pedagogy and models-based practice. This, together with work covered in other modules will make up the content of the integrated assessment which will be made up of some qualitative analysis and a research proposal.

Further details relating to assessment
The essay will cover the strengths and weaknesses of a models-based approach to teaching Physical Education and an opportunity to consider their chosen model into a teaching setting.
The first coursework element is a qualitative research methods task whereby students will gather data, analyse and present it using qualitative techniques.
The second coursework element will be to develop a potential research proposal based around their study of qualitative Research Methods. This will include the full process of ethics application and preparation of all accompanying documents and processes.
Formative assessment in this module will take place in both the practical and workshop settings. Students will gain experience and feedback on their performance from the practical sessions where the models-based approach to PE teaching will be experienced as a teacher and a learner by each student. There will also be opportunity to formative feedback in the workshop settings where the theoretical side of models-based practice and qualitative research methods can be outlined and practiced prior to the formal, summative assessment.
