SHN4153 - Foundations of Physical Actvity, Health and Wellbeing

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module investigates the concept of physical activity, key determinants of physical activity patterns, and how to measure physical activity. The module will apply these roles within exercise and health, whilst exploring lifestyle diseases in relation to health and wellbeing. You will make links between principles of training for healthy adults and core introductory concepts from sociology in health and wellbeing, such as diverse approaches to health. You will also explore the causes and effects of inequalities in health whilst evaluating introducing specific health interventions and producing responses through case studies and problem-based learning. This module will also help further contribute to introducing core aspects of research and enquiry, integrated into content and learning activities.
