Further Details Relating to Assessment

001 – Coursework (Health Screening Data Analysis)

This assessment must be passed (40%) for the module to be passed.

This assessment requires you to submit a written report that demonstrates your ability to interpret health screening data and provide relevant health advice based on current guidelines. You will be given a set of health screening results that you must analyse and then report your findings in a clear, concise manner. The report should outline any potential health concerns and suggest appropriate lifestyle modifications or interventions based on evidence-based guidelines. Additionally, you are expected to offer signposting to relevant resources or services to support your recommendations.

002 – Attendance

There is an 80% attendance requirement for this module, which aligns with the expectations of The Society of Sports Therapists (SST). Your attendance will be used to determine whether you will be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003), and thus could have implications for whether you can pass the module. Detailed below are the potential scenarios.

80-100% attendance (inclusive); You will be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003).

50-79% attendance (inclusive); You may not be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003) in the first attempt assessment window and you will be given a grade of 0 (Non-Submission). You will only be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003) in the second attempt assessment window if you attend mandatory catch-up sessions.

0-49% attendance (inclusive); You will not be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003) in the first attempt assessment window and you will be given a grade of 0 (Non-Submission). Furthermore, it will not be possible to raise your attendance to a sufficient amount with catch-up sessions, therefore you will not be permitted to attempt the practical assessment (003) in the second attempt assessment window and you will be given a grade of 0 (Non-Submission). This will mean you will not pass the assessment (003) and will not pass the module.

003 – Practical (Health Screening Data Collection)

This assessment must be passed (40%) for the module to be passed. Additionally, if you are unsafe at any point in this assessment then the maximum mark you can achieve is 35%.

In this 10-minute practical assessment, you will be required to demonstrate your ability to gather a range of health screening data from a client. This includes collecting information on key health indicators such as vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate), body composition, fitness levels, and any relevant lifestyle factors. You must effectively communicate with the client to ensure accurate data collection while adhering to ethical guidelines and maintaining professional standards. The assessment will test your practical skills in conducting health screenings, your ability to use appropriate tools and techniques, and your efficiency in gathering data within a time frame.

Please note that a pass must be achieved in all assessment compoenents - 001, 002 and 003 - in accordance with PSRB requirements (The Society of Sports Therapists) for 80% attendance and all theoretical and practical assessments on ‘sports therapy modules’ to be passed.
