SHN4055 - Introduction to Nutrition

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

Key concepts in nutrition will be introduced, this includes structure, function and sources of macronutrients, functions and sources of micronutrients and the role of fluid in the diet, dietary recommendations for specific individuals. The module will discuss concepts of energy balance and understanding recommendations for individuals.

Students will use dietary analysis software to demonstrate an understanding of recommendations and evaluate intakes in relation to health and/ or performance.
