Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module will cover more detailed musculoskeletal anatomy and answer the question “What is a sports injury?” The module will cover micro and macro trauma and injuries to muscle, tendons, bones, cartilage and nerves. The content will also introduce the student to the stages of tissue healing and repair. A joint by joint / region by region approach will cover the essential and detailed anatomy required by sports therapists.

Further details relating to assessment
Foundational anatomical knowledge, including definitions and classifications, origins and insertions of muscles, ligaments and tendons, and actions of muscles will be assessed alongside palpation skills, in a 10-minute practical examination. (End of semester).
The BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation students will be practically assessed for the Anatomy component of the module (assessment 2). PSRB requirements state that safe and effective practice must be demonstrated and practical components passed.
