Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
The module will introduce psychological factors which influence health and wellbeing including lifestyle, personality, mental health, motivation and risk taking. You will make links between major psychological theories, concepts and models applying these to health promotion as well as prevention and treatment of disease and illness. You will develop knowledge and understanding of how people react to, cope with, and recover from illness including cognitive processes, behavioural insights, behaviour change and self-management.

Post session activities submitted through Moodle will facilitate ongoing formative assessment opportunities via lecturer or peer feedback, these may include responses to case studies, quizzes, forum posts or blogs and self-assessment. One draft opportunity will be provided for each assessment with feedback provided at least one week prior to summative submission.
Essay 1500 words: You will be expected to choose two relevant behaviour change theories and and write a compare and contrast essay that reviews their relevance to supporting lifestyle change.
Presentation – (10 minutes plus 5 minutes Qand A equivalent 1500 words) – choose one behaviour change theory and discuss how to apply it to a case study ensuring to explain how the chosen theory can support the individual's life for better health and wellbeing outcome.
The assessments will allow you to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of concepts and theories relevant to psychological perspectives on health and wellbeing and allow for practical application of the theories.
