On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 - Complete a first aid qualification relevant to the area.
2 - Explain the benefits of reflection for continued professional development.
3 - Assess the sector and identify professional skills relevant to your career aims, linking this to content from the other Level 4 modules.
This module introduces the Standards of Proficiency and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics relevant to the sector. Opportunities will be available to apply the standards to any role within the sector. Linked to the standards, this module will also introduce the process of reflection and the importance of engaging in reflection for continual professional development. Understanding of key academic terminology will be covered to assist students in progressing through their studies and allowing them to develop evidence-based practice. A first aid qualification relevant to the sector will have to be completed.
This module adopts a blended learning approach, combining interactive seminars and practical sessions to develop your theoretical understanding and allow you to gain a first aid certificate. The seminars will allow whole group contribution to include multiple viewpoints and perspectives. The practical sessions will be smaller groups where you will complete a first aid qualification. There will also be guided independent study where you will consolidate your in-session learning.

001 – First Aid Qualification (Practical)
This assessment must be passed for the module to be passed, in accordance with The Society of Sports Therapists' requirements.
You must complete a first aid qualification.
002 – Group Presentation (Practical)
This assessment will require you to work in groups of 2 or 3 to produce a presentation on the standards of the sector. Specific examples of these standards in an applied scenario, with relation to your proposed career, will need to be included whilst drawing on content from the other modules covered at L4. You must also include an overview of reflective practice and an explanation of the benefits of reflection to continual professional development.
