On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
describe the specific requirements and demands of sport, exercise and / or physical activities.
carry out a range of tests with a chosen individual to identify strengths and weaknesses in their sport, exercise and physical performance.
describe methods for improving an individual’s sport, exercise and / or physical performance.
describe how an individual’s performance improvements can be evaluated.
Multi-disciplinary perspectives on sport, exercise, physical performance and rehabilitation therapies including, physiological, psychological, biomechanical, tactical, pedagogical and rehabilitation. Knowledge of basic key theories will be introduced to illustrate these perspectives, followed by practical-based activities for hands-on understanding. A range of methods will be deployed for evaluating sport, exercise and physical performance, including interpretation, presentation and reflection upon data.
The module will consist of a series of interactive lectures and workshops. In the lectures the key topics will be explored and basic theories will be introduced. In the workshops, students will apply the knowledge gained in the lectures to a practical setting. This may include lab sessions, field-based activities, guest lectures and practical sport and exercise activities.
The module will incorporate a range of interactive modes ranging from debates, to guided independent work, to paired and group work.
Learning will also take place online where students can access a range of resources on the VLE including using multiple choice activities to evaluate their own level of understanding.
Students are expected to conduct around 220 hours of independent study in reading, preparation for taught delivery and preparing assessment for submission.

Poster Presentation
This will require the students to produce a poster which highlights the demands and characteristics of a chosen sport, exercise and / or physical activity and how they would assess a client to determine strengths and weaknesses.
Portfolio
This will require the students to produce a written document that identifies and describe methods for improving an individual’s performance based on the assessment that has been conducted during their poster presentation, this will take the form of designing a suitable intervention. During this portfolio they will also be required to describe how they would monitor and evaluate a client during this intervention.
