PSY6175 - Collaborative Insights in Psychology and Culture

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

In this module, you will explore key concepts in cross-cultural psychology, examining how culture influences human behaviour, cognition, and emotions. Through online, multicampus sessions, you will interact with peers and lecturers from international partner universities, gaining diverse perspectives on psychological theories and practices. The module will cover topics such as cultural dimensions of personality, emotion, and communication, as well as the psychological impact of globalization, migration, and acculturation.

You will engage in collaborative international group projects, applying cross-cultural frameworks to real-world psychological issues. Sessions will include group discussions, case studies, and research activities to promote a deeper understanding of cross-cultural differences and similarities.

Further Details Relating to Assessment
Students will undertake a range of group activities that will lead to formative assessments in preparation for the summative assessment.

For the assessment (cultural immersion reflection and analysis), the students will produce a reflective analysis that critically evaluates how cross-cultural psychological theories and frameworks apply to their experience of the international interactions they had in the module.
