Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
The module provides an introduction to the social, cultural, historical and political context of children’s and young people’s development. Key themes will include: constructions of childhood; the fundamentals of development; diversity and the developing individual; disability and inclusive education; psychological theories of learning and development, and the implications of these theories for teaching. Students will be provided with opportunities to make sense of case study scenarios through the application of psychological theory, research, and legislation. This will allow them to identify strategies to support children and young people and enhance the practices of those working alongside them.
