PSY4013 - Contemporary Issues in Psychology 1

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

A selection of contemporary issues in psychology will be explored in the module. These might include topics broadly pertaining to the areas of cultural psychology and environmental psychology, such as psychology of migration and globalization and psychology of climate change. Other areas of study may include consumer psychology and health and wellbeing. The specific contents may vary from year to year to mirror the research interests of lecturers and topical issues of the time. Students will have the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research in psychology and begin to evaluate it while also considering key conceptual and historical issues in psychology.

Issues of diversity and culture are central to this module and are embedded throughout.

The content will be delivered in self-contained blocks, each providing a variety of lecture-based and student-led discussions and group activities, including formative assessment opportunities.
