POL6033 - Research Project

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module will allow students to conduct research on an area of investigation which is identified in the current National Policing Strategy. Students will choose a specific issue relevant to their chosen interest, which they will research using sound academic research methodology. Exploration of research options, sound research practices and appropriate presentation of the findings will be taught through workshops and one to one supervision creating a bespoke teaching element to this module.

Further Details Relating to Assessment

Component 1: Research Project: The research project is 6,000 words or equivalent and will be in an area of policing specific to and researched by the student, based on the National Policing Strategy, and emerging issues in contemporary investigation. This is a double module, and taught content will be divided into collaborative and co-created content, and one to one supervision with each student based on their research area.

Please note that the module must be passed (minimum 40) as a requirement of the College of Policing and cannot be condoned for marginal failure.
