Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module offers the opportunity to conduct detailed research, with appropriate levels of supervision, to produce either a piece of critical writing or a media artefact with accompanying theoretical justification appropriately presented and supported by conventional scholarly apparatus. The topic will reflect your personal interests, enabling you to explore an aspect of study in more depth and build on your studies across the levels.
This can take the form of:
- an academic research dissertation
- research by practice
- creative project

The content and focus of the research project will be negotiated with and approved by the assigned supervisor.
Research by Practice or Creative Project element must be accompanied by a research proposal and a 2,000-word critical commentary. For Photography students the Research by Practice element will comprise a portfolio of photographs (15-20 images) embodying a research project.
