MFC5133 - Television Platforms

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

In Semester 1, the module explores a different television format each week, including content, style and structure. The module explores specific formats such as entertainment, drama, comedy, factual, factual entertainment, news, daytime, talk shows, game shows, sports, anime and reality TV.

In Semester 2, students will progress their knowledge of television formats, by developing and producing a 5-minute taster tape for a brand-new television show idea.

Assessment 1 is a 1,500-word portfolio or 5-minute video essay case study on a format of your choice, relating to Semester 1 workshop topics.

Assessment 2 is a five-minute taster tape film

Early Assessment:there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system.

002 Film practical; 5 minutes; end of semester 2 50%
