Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This is a professional skills module which includes placement instruction and advice, CV, interview, networking, self-marketing and industry specific employability skills that will add to and complement the skills gained in Level 4. Utilising external speakers, industry contacts and internal expertise the module will prepare students for their first external placement and fully equip them with the skills needed to succeed and impress employers, from first contact to the final working shift.

Further Details Relating to Assessment
Scrum Project
A scrum project will be negotiated between the module tutor and students. It could for instance involve a series of small group projects which feed into a much larger one (an exhibition for example). Students will learn the workflow and process by which games are made in the industry in a safe and supportive environment. This assessment will provide the students with experience of the scrum method (as it is most widely used across the sector). Students will be assessed individually.
Work Placement
The work placement will be for a duration of 150 hours.
Placement Reflection
This assessment is a critical reflection which enables the student to reflect on their placement experience.
In Games Design classes, formative assessment serves to bolster the skills essential for module completion and success. This includes engaging in practical computer lab workshops, undertaking design and modelling tasks, delivering case study presentations, writing essays, completing short quizzes and conducting specific investigation tasks. The provision of formative feedback is integrated seamlessly into class sessions, ensuring an ongoing and iterative process to enhance learning outcomes. This will provide ample opportunities for feedback and feed forward to students before their assignments.
Full details are available within the Module Handbook. Please note that assessment Component 002 (Work Placement) must be passed, in accordance with University regulations.
