MFC4203 - Television Platforms and Genres

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module provides students with an engaging introduction to a host of streaming platforms and broadcasters. Each week focuses on a different Television Channel / Streaming Platform and includes broadcast video content to inform and inspire discussion.

In Semester 2 this module introduces students to a variety of television genres. Each week explores a different television genre.

Further details relating to assessment
Assessment 1 is a 5-minute live video presentation (or 1,500 word written) exploring one broadcast TV show, examining why it is a good representation of the channel it is broadcast on.

Assessment 2 1,500-word written or individual 5-minute presentation, examination of a genre of your choice 20%.

Assessment 3 Integrated Assessment – PLA.The integrated assessment is a cohort-wide assessment which supportively replicates the working environment. This enables students to put into practice learning developed over Semesters 1 and 2 and demonstrate a range of skills within an industry context.

Early Assessment:there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system.
