MBE7051 - Portfolio development

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

Critically reflect on your learning journey experience in order to identify and select knowledge gained from formal and informal learning, especially learning from and for work.

Analyse and evaluate personal work-based learning to date.

Select appropriate content, medium and style that is clear, concise and appropriate for a professional and /or academic communication. Evidence a range of sources of information and demonstrate origins of ideas with precision by referencing sources using a consistent style.

Content:

Apprentices will map their progress and entire apprenticeship journey against the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) stipulated in their Apprenticeship Standard. They will collate evidence of their learning within their portfolio and make connections between the apprenticeship, the academic learning and their job role; ensuring that the apprenticeship standard is being fully addressed.

Apprentices are encouraged to reflect on their learning and progression in order to focus on, track and plan the layout and content of their portfolio of evidence required to be submitted for their end point assessment (EPA). Gap analysis techniques are used to facilitate this and the Individual Learning Agreement written at the start of the programme will be revisited.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The sessions will be organised in teaching blocks. Lectures will deliver core theoretical frameworks, followed by tutorials and personal exercises for reflection and development. Tutorials will be designed to support learners to be self-directed in additional research and with particular emphasis on research within their own employing organisation.

Learners will be expected to complete a variety of activities to ensure coverage of the learning outcomes and knowledge, skills and behaviours from the apprenticeship standard. It will also allow them to practice skills required for the end point assessment. of theoretical perspective relevant to ethics, ethical sales cultures and strategic planning.

The professional discussion requires the apprentice to prepare and practice skills required for the end point assessment to build their confidence when conducting a professional discussion.

The portfolio of artefacts will demonstrate the apprentice’s application of strategic planning in the workplace; allowing them to reflect upon the application of this in their workplace context.

Apprentices will be offered formative feedback throughout the module in order to help them to negotiate successful coverage of the apprenticeship standard’s KSBs in conjunction with the modules aims and outcomes. This will be done via formal sessions and also via online interactions on the Moodle platform and the use of tools such as email and Microsoft Teams.

All of the KSBs for the Systems Thinking Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard will be revisited in this module.
