FDA4003 - Values and Roles of a Principled Professional

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

By reflecting on values formed across your personal, professional and academic journey, this module reviews your current position at the start of the Foundation Degree. As professionals you are required to constantly make decisions about appropriate approaches to practice and decide what is the ‘best’ way forward. As such, practice is entangled with morals, values and the nature of professionalism, advocating for children, young people, families and communities. This module supports you to reflect on and explore how values are formed and shaped, why they are important when working in professional contexts and help identify possible future roles that may appeal to you within a changing political landscape.

Further details relating to assessment
The first section of the portfolio will be submitted as a draft for initial assessment in week 3 in order to receive formative feedback and signpost as necessary to wider support services. The e portfolio will contain, for example, self review, target action plan, formal report writing components.

Students will have opportunities for formative assessment across the year to help guide and inform their preparations.
