DSM4055 - Applied Professional Practice

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 - Demonstrate effective graduate attributes within an industry context;
2 - Develop an understanding of real-world scenarios via a live brief (Integrated Assessment); and,
3 - Reflect on their experience in a professional context.

Content:

The Applied Professional Practice module focuses on two key events: the programme's Integrated Assessment post-Easter and the Institution-wide Professional Challenge. You will develop, prepare for and execute these practical experiences, demonstrating your acquired skills in a real-world context.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The learning and teaching methods in this module are designed to prepare you for the upcoming Professional Challenge/Work Placement, Live Practical Project (Integrated Assessment) and reflection. These workshop sessions might include elements such as research preparation, expectation management and well-being support, ensuring that you are well-equipped and confident as you approach these key assessments. You will select to complete either the Professional Challenge or a Work Placement.

Further Details Relating to Assessment
The live Practical Project (Integrated Assessment) and Professional Challenge mark the culmination of the academic year, offering you ample opportunity to demonstrate your professional and graduate skills, as detailed in your Career Passport and Skills Assessment. The live Practical Project spans two weeks, during which you collaboratively create programme-relevant projects, with formative feedback provided throughout. The Professional Challenge involves an institution-wide, industry-facing brief. You will have an opportunity to complete a Work Placement instead of the Professional Challenge.

Please note that the Professional Challenge/Work Placement must be passed: University regulations.
