Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
The emphasis in this module is on ensuring students utilise and continue to develop a range of the employability skills identified in LTU’s Graduate Attributes and Skills Framework; supporting each student to become a well-rounded graduate who is a highly desirable prospect for future employers. DBS is supported at Level 4 of the degree, and as needed through careers and placement team.
Student will reflect on their employability skills – particularly those highlighted in the MySkills Assessment that student have complete/ update on MyCareer Passport– identifying any specific areas they want to focus on or develop further and which could be incorporated into their Collaborative Business Project at level 6.
Student will research their chosen sector to understand the current issues and challenges being faced by businesses/organisations, the challenges to be addressed and practices currently being implemented to innovate, develop and help move them forward.
During their L5 Placement, students will be building positive relationships with colleagues and managers, gaining a better understanding of the organisation or sector within which they are working, linking what they see in the workplace to what they have been learning on their degree programme and beginning to identify where/how they could make a positive impact. Students are encouraged to consider some fo the following, as relevant:
- Work on building relationships with managers or people in authority who are decision makers and positioned to support/approve a potential Collaborative Business Project in the future.
- Observe the workplace setting and speak to staff to scope out opportunities for a potential Collaborative Business Project – for example:
- Reflect on a process that could be adapted or updated to improve efficiency?
- Specific children or families that may require a different, targeted approach from the one currently employed?
- What resources could support staff training / task completion / learning opportunities?
- Would a focussed social media campaign increase sales or raise the company profile?
The teaching and learning methods for this module are underpinned by programme strategy that aligns with Leeds Trinity University Learning, Teaching and Academic Experience Strategy (LTAE 2022-2026) in that it aims to transform the way we work co-creatively with you, the student, how we connect you and our learning and teaching with the outside world and societal issues. Through this approach we support you on a personalised, values-based and career-led journey through your studies. You will be taught in a variety of methods including problem-based learning using case studies, reflective practice workshops, flipped classrooms; traditional lectures; including participatory workshops which utilise co-creative exercises that will also influence learning and teaching methods. Additional online material will be supplemented using a variety of media and resources, ranging from videos and selected textbooks and articles. The teaching will be face to face and online tutorials may be used to support student progression. Guest speakers will be used to develop an understanding of current educational practice. The practice of relational pedagogy and person-centred planning will be showcased by staff in their delivery style. Further detail on the specific teaching and learning including how these have been developed in response to student feedback, can be found in the module handbook.
