Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

It has been designed to support you in self-directed learning through enquiry and research. In a co-created process, you will be encouraged to work alongside your supervisor to pursue an angle of enquiry pertinent to an area of business specialism: Marketing, Management, Accounting/Finance or International Business.

Content may include problem definition (refining the research proposal and research aims and objectives), conducting literature review or systematic literature review, methodology (refining research design and methods), the code of research conduct and ethics and primary and/or secondary data collection and analysis.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The module builds on knowledge gained at Level 5 through Business Research and Analytics. The research project is a self-directed study where you will take responsibility for your own learning. The module encourages deep learning through the critical analysis of relevant literature. Workshops will be organised to support your researcher needs and monitor and offer guidance to you at intervals throughout the research process. Individual tutorials with the module coordinator and supervisor will be encouraged.

Supervisors will be allocated to offer more specialist help in conducting your investigation and verifying the progress of your research and to offer guidance on data analysis and presentation. Further Details Relating to Assessment
To conform to University policy on research ethics and integrity, prior to any data collection you will need to complete and submit an ethics form for your proposed research. This will need to be approved prior to any data collection. The form will also be useful as a means of formative assessment for you to receive feedback from your supervisor on your proposed study, methodology and chosen methods of data analysis.

Project: the assessment is designed to be flexible in recognition that we all have different ways of learning and preferred means of being assessed. As such, you can choose to present your project as either a written piece or a presentation. The submissions should be submitted in a format that reflects the needs of your research. Your project output must include details of your research, i.e. rationale for the research, literature review, methodology and results/findings. As examples, this could be formatted as a journal article, infographic poster presentation, conference submission or traditional thesis.

Full details are contained within the Module Handbook.
