BMM6143 - Creative Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module is designed to build knowledge of the processes underpinning innovation. The module will develop the students’ entrepreneurial mindsets and introduce them to the main frameworks related to processes, strategies and sources of innovation as well as contemporary trends in innovation, such as social innovation. The module will also help students to learn about the role of creativity in problem solving and the application of design thinking to different business tasks.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Students will learn about the theory and practice of innovation through a collaborative (or cooperative) learning approach.They will work together during workshops on activities and guided learning tasks in teams on validating a product idea. During the lectures, the emphasis will be on active analysis of “real-life” cases in innovation management and business.

Formative assessment practices are an integral part of the learning experience in this module to support students to understand their progress through providing ongoing feedback.

Innovation Concept: individually, you will select one problem area to explore and deliver a 10-minute presentation on your analysis of the identified problem and on the innovation and development processes undertaken. The purpose of the assessment is to demonstrate students’ ability to creatively develop prospective solutions.

InnovationAudit Essay: an innovation audit is a necessary step for any business nowadays. Individually, students will be asked to conduct an audit to understand how an organisation of their choice is managing innovation and recognise which parts of the innovation funnel are working and where more effort is needed.
