Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module introduces students to the analysis of the inter-related nature of the environment in which business organisations exist and the implications for the way they work. Students will analyse in detail models of industry analysis, the main theoretical strategic planning models, the use and application of financial information relevant to different groups of stakeholders and the implications and influence of cultural and ethical issues for strategic planning. Students will also focus on the effective strategies for organisational competition and growth, how strategy is formulated and implemented and the implications of strategy to the organisation and its stakeholders.

Further Details Relating to Assessment
Assessment tasks are designed to measure the extent to which you have satisfied the Level Learning Outcomes for your programme. Some modules, for example where there are professional body (PSRB) requirements, will also test for module-specific skills and knowledge.
Formative assessment and feed-forward methods will be employed throughout this module at various points in the semester. Formative forms of assessment will include (but not exclusively): class-based activities, opportunities for draft pieces of work to be submitted for comments and feedback, drop-in sessions with the module tutor and peer-assessed (non-credit bearing) group presentations.
For the summative assessment, the report will assess students’ ability to use models of industry analysis and the main theoretical strategic planning models. The presentation (individual) will have focus on using information relevant to different groups of stakeholders to reach meaningful conclusions and recommendations that inform strategic direction.
Further specific details of each assessment will be available in the Module Handbook for this module, as well as information on additional in-class support.
