Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module consolidates the learning outcomes from the Level 5 Professional Development and Placement module and aims to empower students to negotiate their own learning outcomes and develop employability skills in the context of their chosen career path beyond graduation. The delivery of a range of personal development theoretical frameworks alongside practical employability skills will enable students to enhance essential soft skills such as business and sector awareness and effective interpersonal communication, alongside practical elements involved in the negotiation and management of projects.
Students are encouraged to link with external organisations and businesses to source a work-related project within their chosen area of interest, allowing context within a professional environment. The projects are negotiated between the students and external organisation and are authorised by the University.
The first phase of teaching will aim at helping support students to source an appropriate project and prepare them with appropriate skills through a series of workshops developed in conjunction with the Placement and Graduate Employability Teams. The module will focus on empowering students to be able to negotiate aspects of the proposed project, where possible, to utilise knowledge and understanding of ethical, diversity and sustainability issues within the context of the professional environment. Additionally, there will be guidance on how to prepare and structure the project, ensuring an artefact outcome which students will negotiate independently, depending on the context of the project.
Students will present an overview of their project and outcomes in a short poster presentation as part of a Project Symposium Day event at Leeds Trinity University. Appropriate support will be provided in advance to prepare students for this event.

Further Detail Relating to Assessment
Employability Development & Project Plan: a comprehensive employment development plan based on a negotiated project and in alignment with degree specialism or career focus. The project will be subject to agreement with all parties and the project and organisation are flexible to include a research intern, business start-up, freelancing, as well as other possibilities. The employability development plan involves a descriptive overview of the student proposed development over the course of the project, focusing on specific employability soft skills relevant to a career aspiration beyond graduation. The project and employability development plan allows for a form of negotiated assessment whereby the student decides on the chosen project area and employability development focus in the context of their chosen career path.
Work Based Project: this can take different forms e.g. a marketing campaign, a HR strategy plan, CRM database. May include a range of documents that outline an outcome from the project.
Project Symposium with Poster Presentations: a day event where students stage a 20-minute presentation with an academic poster that provides a detailed overview of the project that discusses the original project objectives and outcomes, together with personal discussion of the project, challenges faced and personal employability development.
Please note that assessment 002, Work Based Project, must be passed in line with University regulations. Full details are contained within the Module Handbook.
