Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module introduces students to the key aspects of theoretical people management and leadership models and the application of these in practice in the business environment.
Class-based exercises involving people management skills will develop practical experience of team-working and individual reflection on personal performance and areas for development.
Students will study the role of people management and the development of human resources and competitive advantage through human resource / people management and discuss case studies relating to contemporary issues in the workplace.

Formative assessment and feed-forward methods will be employed throughout this module at various points in the semester. Formative forms of assessment will include (but not exclusively): class-based activities, opportunities for draft pieces of work to be submitted for comments and feedback, drop-in sessions with the module tutor and peer-assessed (non-credit bearing) group presentations.
The individual essay aims at testing students’ ability to assess and compare their understanding of people management and leadership models and theories.
