MFC4063 - Studio Practice

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

Through this module you will learn a range of photographic studio practices and develop an understanding of the process of photographic production. You will learn photographic making techniques including studio lighting and equipment and produce final outcomes through print and online processes. You will explore how ideas are realised through a process of research, experimentation and development of works. A key factor of this module will be in the progression of ideas and production of works beyond initial outcomes through time management, communication and critical reflection skills.

Assignment 1: A portfolio of photographs presented in digital or print format (20-25 images). This constitutes a plan for the portfolio work submitted for Assignment 2.

Assignment 2: A research file underpinning and supporting the submitted photographic work

Assignment 3: Programme Level Assessment undertaken in the Integrated Assessment Period.

Early Assessment: there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system.
