Demonstrate critical reflection to analyse factors that contribute to both personal and professional development.

Content:

The module aims to enhance students' self-awareness and appreciation of others through the medium of physical education. This includes understanding and evaluating the role that physical education can play in fostering social equality and social inclusion. In developing understanding of the socialisation process, psychological factors that influence attitudes and motivation will also be explored along with teaching approaches and strategies that develop efficacy and a positive learning climate.

The practical activity areas of Gym, Dance and Swimming will be used to apply learning.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The teaching methods will include lectures, workshops and practical sessions. The integration of these three learning environments will facilitate dissemination of underpinning theory, group-based and student led learning and also the application of this learning within a teaching (practical) environment. The practical sessions will allow students to develop self and peer assessment skills and develop pedagogical awareness in preparation for potential future employment.
