On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to apply, in the writing project, knowledge and skills gained from the discipline skills and competencies in one or more of the following core strands of the programme: script-writing, magazine journalism, creative writing and digital/interactive writing.
Apply employability and professional awareness in the selection and execution of writing skills to the writing project and perform to a satisfactory standard.
Produce written evaluations of professional and academic employability experience as part of a team.
Learning and teaching takes place in collaboration with Level 6 students on ENG 6182 Professional Writing 3. The Level 6 students pitch for work from external clients and then commission and edit the work produced to that brief by students on this module. The students on this module must develop ways of satisfying the given brief and produce work that matches its requirements. The Level 6 students will oversee, appraise and provide editorial feedback on that work.
Module tutors help set up and oversee the project through a series of workshops but the main learning and teaching is achieved through the interaction and collaboration of students on this module and on its partner, ENG 6102 Professional Writing 2.

Students will submit the work they contributed to the project in the form of a portfolio. This work will vary in nature and format according to the brief given to the students. It will be assessed according to the extent to which it matches professional standards, but also the extent of the creativity and ingenuity applied to the task.
