Further details relating to assessment
PORTFOLIO (70% of module marks) - Semester 1 and 2
The contents of the portfolio and deadlines are contained within the module handbook and are assessed by the module tutor.

PLACEMENT (20% of module marks) - Semester 2 (2 week preparation + 5 week placement)
The placement performance (2 week preparation + 5 week placement) is assessed by the module tutor, progress tutor, the 2 week intensive placement preparation assessor and in liaison with the placement provider. Students must perform satisfactorily within the two week intensive placement preparation and the five week placement block. Students who fail this compulsory aspect cannot receive a pass on the module overall, even if all other components have been passed. As well as satisfactory performance on placement, students must successfully complete at least 75% of all (two week) placement preparation tasks and weekly reflections (ie at least 6 out of 7 reflective reports from the 5 + 2 weeks). A pass awarded will contribute the full 20% towards the final module mark.

Directed activities: these consist of weekly tasks that must be completed and submitted for inspection at timetabled sessions each week. The assessment will be assessed on a pass/fail basis with a pass requiring at least 75% of all weekly tasks to be completed successfully. A pass will lead to the full award of 10% towards the final module mark. A fail in directed activities will contribute 0% to the final mark.
