CRS4031B - CCRS - Christian Morality

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of Christian morality and an understanding of the role of the Church as moral teacher;
2 recognize the importance of individual conscience and understand what is involved in the formation of Christian conscience;
3 appreciate and respect different, yet consciously held, positions in regard to moral questions;
4 communicate what they have learned from an adult stance.

Content:

� Moral decision-making as a universal human activity.
� Basic principles of Christian morality.
� Formation of Christian conscience.
� Contemporary moral issues, e.g. environmental, medical, sexual, social.

Learning and Teaching Information:

This will include:
� reflection on personal experience;
� related input to deepen understanding;
� the gathering of information through reading and listening;
� group discussion.
