On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Create an approved research proposal and detailed specific research methodology
2 Negotiate the successful collection of original research data from specific source/s
3 Conduct and write up an original and relevant research project
4 Critically evaluate within academic writing the success of the individual research project..

Content:

Completion of an individual and original research project. Data collection. Data analysis. Appraisal and critique of research project (verbal and academic writing)

Further details relating to assessment
The research proposal is considered by the tutor in the first instance and where required referred to the Departmental Ethics Committee for consideration. Data collection should not take place and the dissertation cannot be written until ethical approval has been obtained. The final dissertation must relate to the topic approved via the ethics submission.

001 Dissertation 1 x 10,000 - 12,000 words 80%
002 Ethics Submission 2000 words 20%
