On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Examine and assess the HRM issues affecting expatriate performance i.e. success/failure rate among employees on foreign assignments
With critical awareness contribute to the development and review of management policy, practices and systems in the field of international human resource management
Act autonomously in surveying and evaluating different international perspectives on human resource management
Critically evaluate and analyse case studies based on the functional areas of international human resource management
Critically discuss the theories which have influenced the development of different corporate social responsibility models.
This module develops participants' conceptual understanding of the challenges and complexities faced when managing people as well as the HRM function beyond national boundaries, particularly the cultural dimensions. It provides students with the opportunity to devise and implement appropriate people management strategies to support and add value to organisations and the people in them operating across national boundaries. It enables students to integrate all aspects of HRM in a coherent whole, looking at internal choices and strategies of the HRM function. In addition, it enhances participants' personal skills, which impact upon the effectiveness of the individual managing or dealing with people across national boundaries.

The individual report and exam allow students to demonstrate, and be assessed on, the knowledge and skills they acquire during the module, the report places greater stress on argumentation and in-depth understanding, while the exam on a comprehensive cross-section of topics covered.
