Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Identify and critically appraise the key elements of the international environment which have an impact on the activities of international firms.
Critically evaluate the basis and recent patterns of international trade and investment.
Demonstrate a critical understanding of a range of market selection techniques and their application in international business practice.
Select and justify appropriate methods of international market entry and international operations and organisation development.
Comment critically on the main methods of risk minimisation available to international companies.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The module will be delivered via a series of weekly 2.5-hour sessions, combining interactive lectures and seminars. Questions/exercises will be set at each lecture meeting for students to complete before the seminar. Students will be provided with, and/or directed to, relevant reading and additional questions/exercises to support their progress through the module material.

Further details relating to assessment
The group presentation will allow students to experience practice and team work in an international setting (groups will be allocated to appreciate diverse cultural and professional experience of the cohort), which will be followed by individual reflections on the decision-making practice, team dynamics and other relevant aspects.
