Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Evaluate extra-curricular and leisure activity schemes
2 Critically assess the impact of Physical Education provision on the health and well-being of children.
3 Demonstrate problem solving skills in meeting the requirements of Special Educational Needs Pupils within Physical Education and know how to make effective personalised learning for those they teach.
4 Demonstrate an awareness of Cross-Curricular Themes within Physical Education
5 Evaluate a range of approaches to assessment within Physical Education
6 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and related pedagogy to enable effective teaching to take place
7. Critically assess management and leadership strategies used in the effective delivery of physical activity programmes.

Content:

The module will be covered through a thematic approach which gives an overview of key issues within Physical Education.

• Role of the subject leader
• Sport Development
• Special Educational Needs and Special Populations within P.E.
• Healthy Children / Healthy Schools
• Cross-curricular themes
• Issues and Creativity within Physical Education

Learning and Teaching Information:

The module will be delivered through practical workshops.
Theory will be covered through practical implementation.
