Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a capacity for self-management and independent learning in the investigative process.
Locate, analyse and synthesise a range of appropriate material and evidence related to the chosen research topic;
manage research ethics issues that arise from the research.
Produce a clear, coherent, investigative report based on the research undertaken.

Content:

In this self-managed, work-based module, students will investigate an element of their own practice (building on their research proposal from PYP 6122); gathering data, evaluating it and presenting their findings in the context of relevant theory and studies. Students are expected to demonstrate an ability to review literature and research, analyse their reading in light of practical experiences and report their findings in an appropriate format.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Students will be supported by VLE materials, individual tutorials and e-contact support. There will be formative assessment opportunities throughout the module, particularly in the context of tutor feedback and guidance on draft work. Students will also be encouraged to self-assess throughout the process.
