Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Analyse educational concepts, theories and issues of policy in a systematic way.
Demonstrate a critical understanding of: the complexity of the interaction between learning and contexts, and the range of ways in which participants (including learners and teachers) can influence the learning process.

Content:

An understanding of the pedagogy of ICT in the primary curriculum with a view to supporting the teacher in considering how the special nature of ICT can be used in teaching to develop children’s learning.

• Skills, knowledge and understanding of pedagogical approaches and methods –ie teaching and learning of ICT.
• To explore, interrogate and critically evaluate a range of research in relation to the teaching and learning of ICT in the Primary School.
This module will address the following from the Teachers’ Standards effective from 1st September, 2012:
2 Promote good pupil progress and outcomes by pupils
3 Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
4 Plan and teach well structured lessons
6 Making productive use of assessment
