PED4342 - Educational Project

Objectives:

On successful completion of the phase, students will be able to:
Select a range of relevant primary and secondary sources, including theoretical and research-based evidence, to extend their knowledge and understanding.
Use a range of evidence to formulate appropriate and justified ways forward and potential changes in practice.
Articulate their own approaches to learning and organise an effective work pattern including working to deadlines.
Process and synthesise empirical and theoretical data, to create new syntheses and to present and justify a chosen position having drawn on relevant theoretical perspectives.

Content:

This module enables students to carry out an Education project focusing upon an aspect of their own professional practice or an area of interest within the context of primary education.

Students are supported by a Project supervisor who will agree the area for the project and support a literature review. They will be continued support to plan and carry out their study by the supervising tutor.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Supervising tutors will support students through semesters 1 and 2. Learning will also be supported by resources in CLARCS packs from the taught course.

Further details relating to assessment
The module is assessed pass/fail. A 750 word proposal and literature review is required. Students will receive an indicative mark. Ethics submission is considered by tutor in the first instance and where required, refer to the Departmental Ethics Committee for consideration. Data collection should not take place until Ethical approval has been obtained. The final project report must relate to the topic approved via the Ethics Submission.
