On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
demonstrate an understanding of how and why graphics can be used to enhance content, impact and style of a television programme;
demonstrate an understanding of how to create and effectively use graphics in a range of television programme genres;
develop the technical and production skills required to produce a range of graphics to specific programme briefs.
Students will learn how graphics are used in a range of different programme genres for a number of different reasons, ranging from adding visual impact and entertainment, to helping to provide an easy to understand visual explanation of complex data.
They will see how television graphics have developed over the years in terms of sophistication and technology and consider future developments.
Students will learn the technical skills needed to create graphics in a range of different formats and styles, which relate specifically to the requirements of current television programming.
The module will be based around lectures, site visits and interactive workshops, which allow students to acquire knowledge and understanding of this area alongside the relevant technical skills needed to create graphics.
