MFC5052 - Radio Production

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a critical understanding of the current radio marketplace
script and present a radio interview;
demonstrate a critical understanding of the practices involved in pitching ideas and producing a radio advert;
work effectively in a team to research and present a programme (advert) proposal

Content:

This Module provides an understanding of radio and its current context. It examines the different marketplaces / audiences relevant to radio and provides tuition in interview skills, writing for radio, preparing and delivering a corporate pitch/presentation and audio editing

Additional assessment information
Portfolio 1 will normally include a 3 minute radio interview with preparatory paperwork. The detailed requirements of the portfolio will be published in the module handbook.

Portfolio 2 will normally include a group presentation (pitch) and a 30 second radio advert. The detailed requirements of the portfolio will be published in the module handbook.

001 Portfolio 1, 1 x 2000 word equiv (end of sem 1) 50%
002 Portfolio 2, 1 x 2000 word equiv (end of sem 2) 40%
003 Individual Proposal 1 x 300 word equiv (mid sem 2) 10%
