MFC4322 - Online Research and Content Generation

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Critically analyse varying methods of information retrieval from digital and social sources
Contribute to online informational structures and streams that can be accessible from a range of media sources
Create online Informational structures and streams than can be updated and accessed in real time from a range of sources

Content:

This module provides instruction and analysis of different types and methods of online research and sources. This incorporates both the retrieval and use of (for example) RSS, Podcasting, Wikipedia, etc and seeks to understand the strengths and weaknesses of such informational feeds via active construction and population of said feeds. Students will critically assess online research through the eyes of creator, conduit and recipient.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Lectures and workshops will be utilised to inform and then create online Informational structures. Workshops are expected to be both physical and virtual.<
