FCL5032 - Investigating Funding Applications and Further Sources of Financial Sustainability

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to take advantage of a range of funding opportunities for freelance movement and dance teacher.
2 Assess, analyse and evaluate various sources of funding for a project.
3 Plan and write a funding application and put in place project management for a project.

Content:

Students will begin with an overview of funding opportunities for the freelance movement and dance instructor. There will then be a rationale for selecting a particular set of sources – for example young people’s charities, the health sector or lifelong learning. Background and particular qualifying and application scoring criteria will be presented. Finally, students will evidence how they would complete a funding application, with inputs, outcomes and other project management criteria clearly articulated.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Within each teaching block there will be a one-day intensive session that will introduce the two modules to be studied. Following this, students will undertake on-line distance learning via Moodle to structure the 12-week teaching block with appropriate milestones, formative tasks and final submission of assignments.

Additionally, students will be attending Lishi classes (usually on a weekly basis) where they may carry out learning tasks appropriate to that module, including observed teaching assignments and presentations.

Additional assessment information
For each assessment there will be a process of calibration of a sample of assignments between the VL and the programme manager. These will be based upon a clear marking matrix and criteria framework. Once calibration is achieved there will be a system of sampled second marking and moderation to assure quality and best practice

001 Assignment: Survey of potential funding sources, selection rationale for of those 1 x 2500 words 50%
002 Report: Draft plan of funding application, including background data to support the application 1 x 2500 words 50%
