FCL4042 - Understanding the Programme Delivery Cycle of Coaching Movement and Dance classes

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Reflect insightful knowledge upon the impacts of the programme delivery cycle upon students.
2 Plan and deliver a meso-cycle of Lishi for a group of participants with evidence of appropriate learning resources.
3 Effectively monitor the quality of the participant experience within fitness and wellbeing and develop knowledge and understanding of the psychological models of health.

Content:

Students will develop subject knowledge around the rationale for there being a clearly articulated programme delivery cycle to facilitate the growth and development of participants. Students will show evidence of having taken the delivery cycle into account when planning a meso-cycle of activity within a class context. There will be evidence of suitable session planning with appropriate content. Students will show the ability to effectively monitor and ensure good quality participant experience. The planning cycle will be linked to the 12-week module delivery period. Students will be able to reflect upon how participation may have impacted upon the physical, emotional and wellbeing of participants – they will be informed by models for health, including the Transtheoretical Model to account for participant stage of change.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Within each teaching block there will be a one-day intensive session that will introduce the two modules to be studied. Following this, students will undertake on-line distance learning via Moodle to structure the 12-week teaching block with appropriate milestones, formative tasks and final submission of assignments.

Additionally, students will be attending Lishi classes (usually on a weekly basis) where they may carry out learning tasks appropriate to that module, including observed teaching assignments and presentations.
