FCL4012 - Developing Method and Form in the Context of Lishi Movement and Dance for Health

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Conduct basic analysis of method for solo, partner and group work.
2 Evaluate the performance of others through critical observations of key exercises.
3 Reflect upon personal practice and develop an action-plan to ensure quality and remediation of development needs.

Content:

Students will critically observe solo, partner and group work; they will consider basic analysis of these performances considering key issues of breath, balance, energy and form. They will consider their own development and the development of others. In particular, students will action-plan remediation and interventions to ensure the quality of their own form and the form of others. They will also consider how these activities relate to physical activity, training, health and wellbeing.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Within each teaching block there will be a one-day intensive session that will introduce the two modules to be studied. Following this, students will undertake on-line distance learning via Moodle to structure the 12-week teaching block with appropriate milestones, formative tasks and final submission of assignments.
Additionally, students will be attending Lishi classes (usually on a weekly basis) where they may carry out learning tasks appropriate to that module, including observed teaching assignments and presentations.
