ENGM5403 - Research Report

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Define a literary research topic, engaging with questions of literature and spirituality, appropriate to an essay of between 6,000 and 7,000 words
2 Compile a bibliography of primary and secondary source material appropriate to the topic
3 Demonstrate appropriate critical and research skills in the handling of the source material
4 Plan, research and complete an essay, supported by appropriate scholarly apparatus, making a valid contribution to critical debate on the topic.

Content:

Students propose, research and write an extended piece of work on a topic chosen according to their particular interests within the area of literature and spirituality.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Students will propose a topic for the approval of the external examiner, undertake independent reading and research, and complete an essay, in consultation with a member of MA staff who will be assigned as their supervisor.
