BMM6442 - Research Project

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

Explore, analyse and evaluate in depth a specific business or management related issue linked to their programme of study.
Formulate and action an appropriate research methodology for data collection and analysis including an element of primary research.
Demonstrate a capacity for self management and independent learning in the investigative process.
Produce a clear coherent investigative report based on the research undertaken

Content:

Problem definition: refining the research proposal and research aims and objectives.
Conducting a literature review.
Methodology: refining research design and methods; code of research conduct and ethics; primary data collection and analysis.
Research report: format; presentation of findings and discussion including academic conventions within the subject specialism.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The module is designed to support self-directed learning through enquiry and research. A series of workshops will be organised to monitor and offer guidance to students at intervals throughout the research process. Additionally, students will be allocated a tutor to offer more specialist help in conducting the investigation, verifying the primary research methods adopted and offering guidance on data analysis and presentation. The module encourages deep learning through the critical analysis of relevant literature and the investigative research process required for the module inclusive of an element of primary research.

Students are required to complete and sign the Leeds Trinity University College Code of Research Conduct and Ethics for undergraduate research projects to affirm that appropriate ethical safeguards are in place prior to undertaking the research.
