PSP6012 - Leadership in a Multi-agency Environment

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate an awareness of effective leadership and management skills, including team management, strategic overview and leading through change
2 Analyse the role of leaders in the children’s workforce, particularly in relation to leadership skills required for inter-agency working and lead professional responsibilities
3 Evaluate their own work place and personal practice in terms of leading aspects of the multi-agency, coordinated response to children’s, young people’s and families’ welfare and support.

Content:

Leadership skills for workers who cross the boundaries between professions need to include awareness of a range of professional contexts, language and responsibilities. Students will consider the responsibilities held by the professionals within the multi agency workforce – particularly for their own context – and how the ‘team around the child’ can effectively be established and managed. They will evaluate the work of the lead professional and the Common Assessment Framework.
