On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the contemporary debates in early years and multi agency working
2 Critically reflect on the impact of recent developments on the lives of young children and their families, and the early years practitioners
3 Synthesise evidence from a range of sources in evaluating the effectiveness of multi agency practice
In this module students will be expected to research contemporary developments and debates in the multi agency, extended schools environment and how these have impacted on the lives of very young children.
They will be expected to draw evidence for their argument from a range of sources including government papers, research, popular media and educational literature and journals.
They will be expected to demonstrate a confidence with the underlying arguments and an ability to draw their own conclusions and perspective from what they have studied.
Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
